Biography

Depresszió had its first concert in January, 2000 consisting of 4 members. This is the official start of the band. After releasing the first album (Tiszta erobol) the band went on tour opening for the famous rock group Tankcsapda. In 2002 following several club and festival concerts the next album (Amíg tart) came out. Supporting this new album the band made its first tour on its own as well as its first music video (Lásd! – amit neked szántak).
Gaining more and more fans the band started to have sold out shows. By 2004 no Hungarian festivals could miss Depresszió. During that summer the third album was released (Egy életen át). In the spring of 2005 after receiving several awards the band celebrated its 5th birthday throughout a tour all over the country as one of most popular rock band of Hungary. The biggest concert of this tour was held in Petofi Csarnok, Budapest. This show was recorded and it became the first live album of the band (Depi BirthDayVD). It was released in November 2005 in DVD+CD format.
In 2005 on Sziget Festival the band’s show attracted the most people on the Hammerworld Stage. The first single came out in the spring of 2006 (Még1X). It was the precursor of the following album coming out in the fall 2006 (Ébredés útján). Supporting this album the band went on an almost year-and-half long tour and the biggest show was held in Petofi Csarnok on 17 November, 2007. This show was again recorded by the Hammer Live Video Crew with 8 cameras. This was the longest and most spectacular concert of the band and the live DVD of the show came out in the spring of 2008 (De3,14 Live). As a second disc, the DVD was released with a CD containing the songs of another concert recorded in Lovarda, Debrecen in 24 November, 2007.
Depresszió recorded its following album in the Soundmaster Studio in the spring of 2008 (Egyensúly). In the fall of 2009 after supporting this album the band became a group of 5. The band was augmented by the tools of the new member (Miklós ’soda’ Pálffy) playing keyboards, samplers and backing vocal.
Since its formation the band made 6 albums, 15 music videos, 3 DVDs and a top single. The band now consisting of 5 members was awarded several fan prizes and had more than 500 concerts.
Besides plenty of sold out shows, touring on its own and several concerts in Petofi Csarnok the band is a highlight of Hungarian festivals. During its history the band shared stage with the following stars and bands: Korn, Marilyn Manson, Motörhead, Soulfly, Slayer, Apocalyptica, The Bloodhound Gang, Machine Head, Sepultura, Biohazard, Guano Apes, Ignite, Clawfinger, Anthrax, Fear Factory, Kosheen, Within Temptation, and Manu Chao.
The new album (Nincs jobb kor – Best of 2000-2010) of the 10-year-old band came out as an extra CD of the Hammer World Magazine on 28 January, 2010. The CD contained the 16 best songs of the band (after surveying thousands of fans) remastered, 2 songs from the first album re-recorded and 2 brand new songs.
Due to its success the publisher decided to sell the CD in shops as well. It has sold more than 5000 copies so far.
In February 2010 the 10-year-old band started its tour of 50 concerts. The setlist contained the best of songs. The top concert of the tour was held in Petofi Csarnok, Budapest again on 17 April, 2010. The show was recorded and it is going to be released on 7 March, 2011.
After the tour attracting more than 50 000 people and the success of the Royal Flush Tour at the end of 2010 the band withdrew from public for 4 months making the new album.
