AVIATION COLLECTION Tempest 'Midway' (2005-2006)
Introduced in 2004, our AVIATION COLLECTION was designed as a ‘playing tribute’ to not only some great WWII era aircraft, but also to the brave men and women past, present and future in our armed forces.
The Tempest Midway was added to our Aviation Collection in 2005. It was inspired by the historic WW2 battle of Midway, which many feel was the turning point in the war. The ‘Midway’s graphic is inspired by the markings of the Navy’s Grumman F4F-3 Wildcat Fighter.
Specs included a 25.5” scale maple neck bolted on to a mahogany ‘Tempest’ body and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with Navy ‘Star & Bars’ inlays,
The hardware on it was distressed chrome, including the TOM bridge and tailpiece, the Duncan Designed HB-102 Humbuckers (with special ‘grill’ covers’ ), and Grover tuners… to give a cool flight-worn appearance, including the pick guard.
The ‘Midway’ featured a ‘Tempest’ headstock with matching graphics.
