Been playing since 1984. I've had a '71 Les Paul Custom, Black Beauty. I wanted a cut-away LP-style guitar. Why spend $3k+? This thing is incredible. Check out the specs. It's also gorgeous. I've had it for a month now and it is a fantastic playing guitar. Get one, you'll see. It wasn't made in the US, so what.
