Custom Shop
Neck Fretter/Sander

JOB TITLE: Guitar Custom Shop Neck Fretter / Sander
JOB DESCRIPTION: As a Neck Fretter, you will play a vital role in the creation of high-quality custom guitars. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that each instrument receives meticulous attention to detail during the sanding and woodworking processes. This position requires a combination of woodworking skills, artistic sensibility, and a passion for crafting musical instruments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Radiusing: Perform precise operations to ensure the necks are straight and true utilizing various sanding tools and techniques to achieve the desired fingerboard radius at the final sanding grit.
2. Fretting: Prepare and install the desired type and size of frets for each neck using an assortment of specialized tools.
3. Quality Control: Inspect the necks at each stage of the process to ensure adherence to quality standards and customer specifications. Identify and address any imperfections or inconsistencies in the fingerboard surfaces, check for consistent, level fret height, taking appropriate corrective actions as needed.
4. Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the custom shop team, including co-workers and managers to coordinate workflow and ensure the timely completion of projects. Communicate effectively with team members to understand project requirements and address any issues or concerns that arise.
5. Customization: Assist in the customization of guitars by implementing unique design elements, inlays, or other decorative features as necessary.
6. Neck & Body Sanding: Assist the sanding department when necessary or as time allows with the final shaping and sanding of necks and bodies to prepare them for paint.
7. Tool Maintenance: Maintain woodworking tools and equipment in good working condition, performing routine maintenance tasks and troubleshooting any issues that arise. Ensure that all tools are properly calibrated and adjusted to achieve optimal results.
8. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries in the workshop. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and follow established safety procedures when operating woodworking machinery and handling hazardous materials.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Proven experience in woodworking, preferably in a guitar manufacturing or custom shop environment.
• Proficiency in sanding techniques and woodworking processes, with a keen eye for detail and precision.
• Knowledge of various wood types, grains, and characteristics, and their suitability for guitar construction.
• Familiarity with woodworking tools and equipment, including sanders, routers, chisels, and power tools.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Dedication to craftsmanship, with a passion for creating high-quality musical instruments.
• Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate changing priorities and project requirements.
• Commitment to safety practices and the ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Preferred Additional Skills: • Knowledge of guitar construction principles, including fretwork, neck alignment, and intonation.
• Ability to perform minor repairs or adjustments to guitars as needed.
• Understanding of ergonomic principles and player preferences in guitar design.

Diamond Series Guitar and Bass Technician

JOB TITLE: Diamond Series Guitar and Bass Technician
JOB DESCRIPTION: Schecter Guitars is seeking to add passionate instrument technicians to its Diamond Series Tech department to maintain our high setup and QC standards. Individuals will be responsible for QC, setups, and repairs to Schecter’s Diamond Series line with a focus on delivering the best possible experience for our global players and endorsed artists.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Perform Quality Control evaluations on incoming instruments of every variety for blemishes and flaws, both aesthetic and functional.
2. Apply setup operations and/or repairs as needed to ensure that every Diamond Series instrument leaves the building fully-setup to spec and ready to perform.
3. Meet individual productivity expectations as outlined by management.
4. Bring a positive, cooperative attitude to the department daily along with a passionate desire to be the best technician you can possibly be.


QUALIFICATIONS:
• Basic knowledge of stringed instrument construction and basic hand tool usage, and an internal drive to expand that knowledge.
• Ability to engage the fine motor skills pertinent to guitar/bass setups, lift and lower approximately 25lbs above one’s head, and be standing on one’s feet for extended periods of time.
• A positive and eager-to-learn attitude
• Ability to take instruction, and the ability to adapt to new tasks and changing production demands.
