Reviews

This is a Swiss army bass.

I was looking for a five string recently and went in looking for a ray 35 or similar. I sat down with a sterling, a rock bass corvette, a fender jazz 5 and accidently ran into a CV-5 on the used rack. It was strung with ultralight bass strings .03 G etc.
I knew nothing about this bass, and was not even really considering this brand when I picked it up, but I had some time so I gave it a try. The previous owner had clearly spent some time and/or money with a good setup, because this bass practically played itself. I was absolutely floored by the playability.
After bringing it home, I read a very helpful review about the settings for the split coils and what settings emulated certain basses.
I have not compared it directly to my 78 jazz, my 79 p and my stingray, but it definitely sounds like a very close match to my ears.
The combination of light strings on a 35” scale bass with excellent action is something special.
